Why is Dance so Important?

Dancing is one of the most important activities we can do throughout our lifetime. This blog post is all about why dance is so important and the positive implications it can have on people’s lives.

Physical health

Of course, dance is a form of cardiovascular fitness and can help keep you physically fit. Whether you’re dancing Zumba, Swing, or Ballroom, your body will be moving and you’ll get physically fitter each time you step on the dance floor.

Dancing can also be very addictive, meaning that you’ll end up exercising so much throughout the week without realizing it!

My personal favorite way of getting fit is through dance, and I’ve found that over time, your stamina and overall endurance while dancing will improve. Additionally, you can improve your strength and flexibility, too, depending on what dance you are involved with.

Mental health

When it comes to mental health, dance is something that can definitely help strengthen it.

Dancing has been linked to improved mental health and brain development, which is especially important in young children.

This is why many schools have dance sessions for kids – and I’ve taught at a couple of these myself!

When considering our mental health in the crazy times that we live in, it’s worth delving more into dance motivation during a pandemic – remember, we’re all in this together!

Feeling rewarded

Dance is all about getting active and feeling that you’ve done something great.

The rewarding feeling of dancing is a feeling that is very hard to actually describe in words.

Whether you’re dancing on your own, with a group, or with a dance partner, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about!

Overall, dance is something that has improved people’s lives, as it has with mine and a lot of my friends.

So, to sum it up in a couple of words…

Keep dancing!
