It’s been a year since nations began locking down over the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
I thought it’d be interesting to look at how popular certain dances were in the last year.
Using Google Trends, it appears that ballet seems to have consistent popularity across the world.
Zumba peaked when countries began their lockdowns (which makes sense), but then fell quite significantly after.
The smaller lines show the consistent yet small popularity of ballroom, swing, and salsa.
As these are couple dances, it makes sense that their interest levels were low throughout the pandemic.
Hopefully once the world starts healing we can get back to regular dancing – and if you’re struggling right now for inspiration, have a look at some dance motivation during a pandemic to brighten your day!
